The Feline Fix is proud to be among the growing number of high quality, high volume spay/neuter clinics across the United States.  Statistics show that on average there is one homeless, free roaming cat, or community cat, for every 6 people in every neighborhood.  In Denver alone, this translates to more than 100,000 free-roaming cats!

The Feline Fix’s mission is to help the Denver Metro area humanely control the cat population by providing affordable spay/neuter services.  To support the spay/neuter efforts, The Feline Fix operates a community TNR program that includes monthly Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) workshops which teach people how to trap and care for community cat colonies.

Not only do the community cats need to be fixed, but all tame cats need to be fixed too. Community cats are descended from unaltered tame cats that were abandoned by their owners and left to fend for themselves. These cats breed and produce multitudes of kittens that, if not trapped and fixed, become feral and start breeding themselves as early as 5 months of age.

The following statistics show the impact The Feline Fix has made by spaying/neutering tame and feral cats since opening in July of 2009.

The Feline Fix is a member or the Metro Denver Shelter Alliance – a coalition formed in 2000 by public and private animal welfare agencies to reduce euthanasia for adoptable pets.  MDSA members are now starting to work together to address community cat issues affecting shelters. Strategic TNR efforts will have a drastic effect on the number of cats entering the shelters, the number of cats being euthanized and the amount of money shelters are spending on caring for these community cats while in the shelters.
