Currently she is the regional representative for the U.S. Secretary of Education. She is also a commissioner on the Colorado Commission on Judicial Discipline, a post she was appointed to in 2005. Wendy serves as the president of her homeowners association in Littleton. Cats have always been Wendy’s passion, which is why she’s an advocate for homeless pet adoption. She shares her home with Hemmingway, an orange tabby with a lot of toes.
Raeanne Kooren, CPA, Treasurer
Raeanne holds a master’s degree in finance from the University of Colorado. She has a wealth of financial experience in the nonprofit field, including a previous position as audit manager for a very large foundation, and controller for the foundation’s local affiliate. Raeanne’s financial expertise is a great asset to RMACA. A diehard Rockies and Broncos fan, Raeanne lives in Highlands Ranch with her four cats.
Board Members at Large
Kristin Des Marais
Kristin Des Marais brings numerous years of professional experience in animal welfare, public awareness, and advocacy to RMACA. Her passion and philanthropic efforts date back to her youth when she would help stray animals out of fear for their safety and well-being. After the death of her beloved Wheaten Terrier, Kristin became the adoption/mobile coordinator for a Denver animal shelter. Her position involved managing countless numbers of volunteers to showcase hundreds of adoptables every month. Now, Kristin focuses on pet overpopulation by assisting with low cost spay/neuter services throughout Colorado. Through her fundraising efforts and other social activities, Kristin wants to raise awareness about the vital importance of spaying/neutering as the means to lower the number of unwanted animals euthanized in our shelters.
Kathleen Kramberg
Kathleen recently completed her Master’s in Nonprofit Management from Regis University. She previously served as the Spay/Neuter Coordinator for RMACA before accepting a development position with Doctors Care. Kathleen has experience in marketing and public relations, as well as veterinary technician work. She believes passionately that spay/neuter is the only answer to pet overpopulation. She shares her home with her husband, Dave, and two elderly dogs.
Carol Tudor
Carol grew up in Saskatchewan, Canada and moved to Colorado in 2002. She is an Environmental Engineer for E3 Consulting, where she evaluates environmental risks for lenders, investors and developers in the energy industry. Carol discovered the feral cat world in 2006 when a friend needed help with a cat that had given birth under her deck. Many nights and weekends since then have been spent trapping, transporting and returning feral cats, responding to calls for help that RMACA receives. “There’s something about helping the animals that are not accepted by a culture that desires cute and cuddly cats, but at the same time are not wild animals. They struggle to survive, and it’s a rewarding day to be able to help even one.” Her husband, Stephen Ho, a dermatologist, has been known to buy organic cat treats for the feline house guests.
Staff
Amy Angelilli, Executive Director
Before acquiring a Denver zip code, Amy Angelilli split her time between social responsibility marketing and animal welfare. Her public relations agency, smaart PR, specialized in social issues especially related to the environment. She also founded the all-volunteer People-Pet Partnership to bring the “No More Homeless Pets” movement to the City of Philadelphia. Amy has been featured in publications such as Women’s Day, The Philadelphia Daily News and The South Philadelphia Review, and has been recognized by Best Friends Animal Society for her innovative animal welfare work in Philadelphia. Occasionally she breaks away from her own litter boxes to assist cats abroad. In 2005 she created a first-time adoption event at Torre Argentina, a Roman cat sanctuary built on the ruins where Julius Caesar was assassinated.
Jason Cordeiro, VMD, Medical Director
After graduating in the top quarter of his class from the University of Pennsylvania, School of Veterinary Medicine in 2003, Dr. Cordeiro completed a small animal medicine and surgery internship in San Diego, CA. He then moved to Colorado and worked for three years as an emergency clinician in Longmont at a specialty practice. From there, he worked part-time at both the Humane Society of Boulder Valley and the Dumb Friends League, ultimately accepting a full-time position with the Dumb Friends League. The position was in their outreach department where he worked primarily on the Meow Mobile and, later, on the LuLu Mobile performing feline and canine sterilizations, respectively. To date, Dr. Cordeiro has spayed and neutered more than 3,000 cats and several hundred dogs in the Denver Metro area. While admittedly a dog person, his passion lies with the felines given the outdoor reproduction factor which is far less of a concern with dogs.
Holly Aubart, CVT, Clinic Director
Holly brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to The Feline Fix. Holly has an Associates Degree in Veterinary Technology from the Bel-Rea Institute, and several years of experience as a veterinary technician for both the Dumb Friends League and Divine Feline. Her commitment to animal welfare has led her to volunteer at a spay/neuter clinic in Mexico, participate in Spay-a-Stray Day since 2004, participate in a spay/neuter trip to Guam and foster more than 300 cats and kittens for various rescue organizations.
Alex Mehn, Volunteer and Outreach Coordinator
Alex is a Michigan native, where he had his first taste of nonprofit volunteerism while in college. His experience with numerous student groups and community nonprofits led him to join the Peace Corps, where he spent two years on the island nation of St Lucia as a community development worker and focused heavily on animal welfare. His experience, enthusiasm, and attention to detail make him a perfect fit, while his love for the Detroit Tigers perhaps detracts from his overall value in a National League town.
Kristi Taylor, Feline Fix Coordinator
Kristi, a Colorado native and University of Northern Colorado graduate, has spent the past couple of years in New York City utilizing her theatre arts degree at a non-profit theatre company. However, after adopting her two cats from the ASPCA and volunteering at a cat rescue and adoption organization, she discovered her passion for helping animals, which sparked a career change. After working at an Upper East Side animal hospital in an administrative and hands-on capacity, Kristi is thrilled to be back in her home state pursuing her animal welfare professional goals.
