In past winters, B4 (short for Big Black Beautiful Boy) used to sleep on the cold, wet, frozen ground under the shed. His dining room was a dumpster. Sometimes he even had to scour the streets and alleys for food.
One day all that changed.
B4 found himself in a wire box with a plate of tantalizing tuna. Although B4 wasn’t happy about the night he spent in the humane trap, things were looking up…
The RMACA volunteer trapper took B4 to a spay/neuter clinic to be sure he would never become a “daddy.” Then, although B4 returned to his territory, this volunteer brought food and water to him every day. Soon, B4 and his buddies were greeting the trapper turned caretaker.
Even though B4’s dinners had improved, sometimes he had to compete for a full meal when other animals would visit.
One day that problem was solved too.
The caretaker returned with a shelter for B4 and his friends. This cat house came with warm beds and blankets. B4 would never have to endure a cold winter again. His dinner was now served in the house, so only he and his friends could enjoy the caretaker’s meals.
In loving memory of B4 who went over the rainbow bridge when this story was first published in February, 2008.
Special thanks to RMACA volunteer, Nancy Kall, who took loving care of B4 while he was with us.
