In April 2003, RMACA joined forces with Divine Feline, a nonprofit, mobile spay/neuter clinic for feral, stray, and low-income owned cats. Thanks to the compassion and dedication of Dr. Erica Rambus, we have another ally in our struggle to end feral cat overpopulation. For more information about Divine Feline, visit www.divinefeline.org.
When RMACA receives calls for help with large feral cat colonies (15+ cats), we schedule the mobile clinic to go directly to the scene. The clinic will arrive on the specified date with Dr. Erica Rambus, and her medical team, as well as with an experienced trapper. We trap the cats and bring them directly into the mobile clinic. Dr. Rambus will provide FIV/FeLV testing, spay/neuter surgeries, and FVRCP/rabies vaccinations for all feral cats. We hold all feral and unowned cats overnight to ensure that they come out of surgery safely, and then release them back to their home territories the following day. This service is provided at no charge to the public, although we greatly appreciate donations.
If you are interested in having the clinic come to a specific location, please call 303.202.3516 or e-mail kathleen@rmaca.org. Please keep in mind that:
- We only run the clinic on Tuesdays.
- The cats must have a guaranteed food source (i.e., someone must be feeding/willing to continue feeding on a retular basis).
- The cats need to be on a morning feeding schedule (when you call, we can explain the details).
- We really try to reserve the clinic for colonies of 15 or more cats.
The clinic also welcomes low-income cat owners. We suggest the following donations for services offered at the mobile clinic:
- $35 Spay (for female cats)
- $20 Neuter (for male cats)
- $20 FIV/FeLV Testing
- If a cat owner cannot afford to pay the above suggested donations, we will not turn them away; but, we will only be able to provide the spay or neuter procedure at no charge.
- All cats must be dropped off between 9:30 -10:30 a.m. Most cats are ready to be picked up between 2 - 3 p.m. the same day; but, we can be more specific about pick-up times when the cat is dropped off in the morning.
- For all cats 12 weeks and older -- NO FOOD AFTER 7 PM THE NIGHT BEFORE SURGERY. Water is O.K.
- For all kittens under 12 weeks -- NO FOOD AFTER 6 AM THE DAY OF SURGERY. Water is O.K.
- All cats/kittens must be in a cat-carrier, trap, box, or similar enclosure. Be sure to label the carrier with your name and the cat's name. Please DO NOT use cardboard carriers.
Please call 303.202.3516, or e-mail kathleen@rmaca.org, for the Divine Feline schedule.
